Laura Pfeifer

Laura Pfeifer

Hi, I’m Laura! Born and raised in Oklahoma, I was absolutely enthralled with horses as a child, which led to me becoming an avid horsewoman. As I flourished in this environment, I figured my passion would be in vet-med. Previously, I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2012 at the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences. I then began my career at Spay Arkansas, which is a non-profit spay/neuter clinic in Springdale, AR. Since then, I have married a New Mexico native and moved to the Land of Enchantment in 2014.

From 2015 to 2020, I have traveled monthly to perform hundreds of sterilization surgeries in rural Arkansas through the Humane Society of Saline County. I have performed tens of thousands of spay/neuter surgeries for multiple non-profits and shelters across the state of New Mexico, including, but not limited to: McKinley County Animal Shelter, Santa Fe Animal Shelter, Animal Services Center of Mesilla Valley, Bro & Tracy Animal Welfare, Valencia County Animal Shelter, Watermelon Mountain Ranch, HART, Pecos People for Animals Welfare Society (PAWS), Stray Hearts Animal Shelter, and Bernalillo County Animal Shelter. I’m driven to help animal shelters rescue and rehome as many homeless animals as possible and have mentored several veterinarians to improve their surgical skills and efficiency during sterilization procedures.

I have also worked on multiple mobile spay/neuter vans and RVs to serve rural areas where the nearest veterinarian may be hours away. I am extremely passionate about high-quality spay and neuter procedures being available to people of all income levels. This is the best way to end animal overpopulation, homelessness, and high euthanasia rates in our shelters.

Alternatively, I enjoy helping people get the basic care their pets need in a timely fashion and at an affordable price. In my spare time, I like to spend time with family and multiple pets on our ranch, attend and serve at my church, and explore the many beautiful landscapes of New Mexico.

We’re happy to introduce to you our new groomer, Alysha “Ally” Lenderman. Ally has over 18 years in the professional animal industry working as a veterinary technician, animal control officer, and groomer. Ally discovered her passion for grooming while working a second job as an apprentice, part-time groomer, which turned into a full-time position as a shop assistant manager and groomer. It has been her dream since to open her own shop.

Your doggies will love Ally, as she makes the grooming experience as positive, safe, and stress-free as possible for them – and for you. She believes that it is an absolute must to have patience and build trust with each animal, thus each appointment is scheduled around your pet, and time is taken to ensure they are able to enjoy their time at the shop! Clients, rescue agencies, and fosters have stated that she has a talent for working with dogs that other groomers have had to turn away due to special needs not being met. Ally takes great pride in her work and treats every pet with the same love and compassion that she gives to her own.

When she’s not at work, Ally enjoys creating art, riding her Harley, hiking with her daughter Samantha, and volunteering with many of our local New Mexico rescue groups! We’re happy when she is here working with us at Express Vet NM, and she looks forward to bringing out the beauty and comfort in your fur babies very soon!
